Alex Ovechkin cracks funny joke about taking Stanley Cup to Moscow
Alex Ovechkin is in Russia, and he took the Stanley Cup with him.
Ovi headed to Moscow to spend some time with his family and take in the World Cup atmosphere while in his home country. Bringing the Stanley Cup with him allowed fans the opportunity to enjoy the cherished trophy. But one overlooked aspect of carrying the Cup around is that it’s tiring. However, Ovi had a solution for that: some beer.
Here’s what Ovechkin told The Washington Post’s Isabelle Khurshudyan:
Just chatted with Ovechkin. Confirmed his arms are weary after carrying the Cup all over Moscow. “But after a couple of beers, I feel pretty good.”

Ovi had 27 points in 24 games as his Washington Capitals won their first Stanley Cup in franchise history. Now that he’s achieved the greatest goal as a player, he has earned the right to celebrate as hard as he wants. And he has made it clear how pro-beer he is for everyone.
