Washington Capitals coach Barry Trotz is hoping the NHL will take action against Jake Guentzel for his high hit on John Carlson late in Game 5 of their playoff series with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday.
Guentzel nailed Carlson with a check behind the net that left the Caps defenseman shaken up in the final minute of play.

Trotz referred to the three-game suspension for Tom Wilson and wants Guentzel to be suspended for his hit.
Trotz clearly calling for a suspension for Jake Guentzel for a high hit on John Carlson late. Says standard’s been set with Wilson suspension. Expects NHL to be consistent. #Caps

Trotz said Carlson took an “unsuspecting, high hit,” and he’s being evaluated right now. “The standard has been set,” Trotz said, and he will leave it up to the league. Guentzel was the one who threw the hit.
