Carl Gunnarsson predicted game-winning goal while in bathroom
Carl Gunnarsson predicted his game-winning goal in the oddest of places.
St. Louis Blues interim head coach Craig Berube shared after his team’s 3-2 overtime win over the Boston Bruins in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final Wednesday that he ran into Gunnarsson in the bathroom after the third period. Gunnarsson had narrowly missed scoring in the third period with a shot that hit the post. The defenseman apparently told Berube he needed one more chance.

Gunnarsson confirmed the story.
Gunnarsson on whether the exchange with Berube actually happened in the pisser: “Yeah, I can’t deny that. That’s where it happened, so that makes it even more fun, I guess … a good story.” #stlblues

Sure enough, fewer than four minutes into overtime, Gunnarsson made good on his prediction by blasting a slap shot past Tuukka Rask.
The goal was the first of Gunnarsson’s playoff career and also gave the Blues their first Stanley Cup Final win in team history.
