Flyers zing The Walking Dead’s Steven Yeun for cheering on Red Wings

Be warned: rooting for an opposing team will have the Philadelphia Flyers rooting for your death. Well, somewhat.

After actor and noted Detroit Red Wings fan Steven Yeun, who plays Glenn on the hit AMC TV show “The Walking Dead,” expressed support for his team on Twitter, the Flyers, who play the Red Wings on Wednesday night, hit him with the following haymaker:

For a bit of context (and beware of bountiful spoilers ahead):

The fate of Yeun’s character was left uncertain after Sunday night’s season six finale. In it, we were introduced to the bloodthirsty villain Negan, who managed to capture the main group and clobber one of them to death with his weapon of choice: a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire named “Lucille.” However, the show chose to end the episode on a cliffhanger by not revealing which cast member was on the receiving end of Lucille’s wrath, a decision that angered many viewers.

Interestingly enough, Glenn was indeed the character who met his end at the hands of Lucille in the comic book series that the TV adaptation is based on, which would imply that Yeun is particularly at risk.

A well-timed and a well-thought-out troll job indeed.

Perhaps Yeun gets the last laugh by talking to the show’s producers about writing a zombie takeover of Philadelphia into the script.
