Earlier this month, Ryan O’Reilly signed a contract with the Sabres worth $52.5 million after being acquired in a trade from the Avalanche. On Monday, it was announced had been charged with driving a vehicle while impaired and leaving the scene of an accident.
Early Thursday morning, O’Reilly crashed the above pictured 1951 Chevy truck into a Tim Horton’s coffee shop in Lucan, Ontario. The 24-year-old posted the photo to his Instagram account on May 25 along with the caption “Got my new truck #heads”

According to Buffalo News, O’Reilly drove the vehicle for two more miles before leaving it and fleeing on foot. O’Reilly could face penalties that could include up to a maximum of six months in jail and a fine between $400 and $2,000. He could also have his driver’s license suspended for one year, if convicted. O’Reilly is scheduled to appear in court August 20.
Last season, O’Reilly played in 82 games for the Avalance, scoring 17 goals and recording 38 assists.
