MMA legend Rampage Jackson feels that the recent criticism of his son Raja Jackson has gone too far.

At an Aug. 23 event for KnokX Pro Wrestling in Sun Valley, Calif., Rampage’s son Raja pummeled a wrestler who goes by the stage name Syko Stu in what appeared to be be a stunt gone wrong. Stu, whose real name is Stuart Smith, first hit Raja over the side of head with a drink can during a backstage incident that looked staged.

Raja seemed legitimately bothered by the act. He later entered the ring during a match involving Syko Stu. He body-slammed Stu and then beat up the wrestler with multiple punches until Stu was bloodied and appeared to be unconscious.

Rampage issued a statement the night of the incident. He said he did not condone his son’s actions but that he believes Raja’s judgment was impaired because of a concussion he suffered days prior. Rampage also said Raja is an MMA fighter and should never have been involved in a wrestling event to begin with.

The elder Jackson addressed the incident again on Monday with a new statement via social media. Rampage said people have gone “too far” in vilifying his son and said Smith started the whole thing when the wrestler was “drunk” during a live stream. Rampage said Raja should have gone to the police after Stu hit him in the head with the can.

“This has gone too far, I’m sick of being quiet and letting all the low IQ people fall for clickbait! Yes my son took things too far, and I’m pissed at him for being a POS and the way he handled it!” Jackson wrote. “But if psycho Stu wasn’t drunk and wouldn’t have hit my son over the head with a (real beer can) while he was live streaming on his own stream then Knox wouldn’t have felt like they had to make things right by letting Raja get his ‘get back’ in the ring! If my son would’ve just went to the police when the beer can incident happened then the whole event could’ve gotten shut down and he could’ve sued! But no my son is not as smart as I’d liked for him to be!”

Rampage admitted that Raja took things “too far” but said he spoke with witnesses who claimed that was not the first time Smith “done done some drunk s– back stage to a fan” (edited by LBS for profanity). Rampage said Raja “should face the consequences” but that Smith should abide by the phrase “play stupid games win stupid prizes.” You can read Rampage’s full post here.

Police were called to the scene after Raja attacked Stu, but no charges have been filed.

Smith said in a statement on social media Saturday that he had been released from the hospital after being treated for numerous significant injuries.
