Sydney Leroux made some headlines this week after photos showed her practicing with her soccer team while over five months pregnant.
The 28-year-old soccer player shared photos on Twitter Monday of her practicing with the Orlando Pride, her NWSL team.
I didn’t think I’d be starting off preseason 5.5 months pregnant but here we are. pic.twitter.com/smuA4nFx9n

Leroux instantly received questions about what sort of activity she was taking part in due to safety concerns. Leroux said she does non-contact work, such as ball work, and no high-intensity running. She says she talked with her doctor about what sort of activity she could do.
I just do non contact stuff. Ball work. Getting touches in. I don’t put myself in situations where the ball can ricochet or I can get hit. No high intensity running and I listen to my OB (who knows more than people on twitter telling me what I shouldn’t be doing with MY body ). https://t.co/GoFOXXYVyb

Leroux received some criticism for playing while pregnant. She decided to address one critic who claimed she was only practicing for the money.
I have yet to respond to some of you ignorant people but this one made me lol. 99% of those that have criticized my ‘training’ have been men. Until you push a baby out of your vagina you need to sit this one out. I don’t play for the money honey, I play because it brings me joy. https://t.co/bCDTiolaC9

Leroux won a gold medal with the US National Team and scored 35 goals in international competition for the national team. She and husband Dom Dwyer, also a pro soccer player, have a 2-year-old son. This will be their second child.
