Trademark applications possibly reveal name of Miami MLS team
It has been four months since Major League Soccer formally announced that David Beckham and his partners have been approved for their Miami-based expansion team, and a name for the franchise appears to have been decided on.
Trademark applications indicate that Beckham’s team will be known as the Miami Freedom.

As Michelle Kaufman of the Miami Herald notes, a banner featuring the Freedom Tower in Miami was unveiled on the day the MLS officially announced the new expansion team. That may have also been a hint about the team’s name.
Beckham’s team is expected to begin play in 2020 and move to its own stadium in 2021, though the location for said stadium has yet to be finalized. There was initially speculation about Beckham possibly playing for the team, but that is highly unlikely at this point.
