Tiger Woods will have a new sponsor when he plays next week at the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas.
According to ESPN’s Darren Rovell, Woods will have a Monster Energy logo on his bag.
Tiger previously had a MusclePharm logo on his bag and was paid $7 million for it. They reportedly paid $2.5 million to buy their way out of the contract, which was set to run through June 2018.

Woods is a risky investment for a few reasons. He hasn’t played since competing at the Wyndham Championship in Aug. 2015. He missed all of last season while recovering from back surgery, so there are questions about how many events he’ll play. There’s also a big question about how well he will do and how much exposure a brand would receive by sponsoring him.
This could be the first of a few sponsorship changes to come for Woods. Nike is exiting the golf equipment business, so Tiger will likely begin using another company’s products at some point in the future.
