Steph Curry, JaVale McGee made bet on Davidson-Nevada game

A lot more than just a win and loss for the programs will be on the line when Davidson and Nevada meet on Tuesday night.

The Wolf Pack are hosting the Wildcats, and the schools just happen to have two famous alums who are teammates on the Golden State Warriors. And those teammates — Stephen Curry and JaVale McGee — have agreed to a wager.

According to a text message conversation McGee shared on Twitter, Curry will have to wear a fanny pack to three games if McGee’s Nevada squad wins. If Curry’s Davidson pulls off the victory, McGee will have to caddie for his teammate on the golf course.

Here’s hoping for a Nevada win just so we can see Curry wearing a fanny pack for a few days.

JaVale McGee got tattoo of Larry O’Brien Trophy

JaVale McGee is an NBA champion, and now he’s making sure that no one ever forgets it.

The Golden State Warriors big man got a tattoo of the Larry O’Brien Trophy on his forearm and showed it off to Instagram on Tuesday, tagging all of his 2017 title-winning Dubs teammates in the post.

It’s ink well-earned as McGee rejuvenated his career with the Warriors last season, proving to be a meaningful and energetic two-way contributor for them during their championship run. After a bit of offseason drama, he will be returning to the team for their title defense. And while it’s not quite as bold as this other Larry O’Brien tattoo, McGee certainly gets the points for style here.

Steve Kerr wants JaVale McGee back

Steve Kerr

Steve Kerr is hoping to have his pogo stick big man back for another hurrah.

Speaking over the weekend, the Golden State Warriors head coach said that he would like for the team to bring back JaVale McGee.

“I’d like to see JaVale back, and we’ll see how that shakes out,” said Kerr, according to Monte Poole of CSN Bay Area. “We’d love to have him back. If he doesn’t come back, then I think we would be patient and explore our options. But we feel great about what we have heading into the season.”

The 29-year-old McGee impressed in limited minutes off the bench for Golden State during their title run last season, using his activity and athleticism to impact games on both ends. But he is reportedly unhappy with the team over the way the offseason has played out, desiring more money and a bigger role.

The Warriors already have 14 of 15 roster spots filled and can probably only offer McGee the same minimum salary he was playing for last year. Thus, it’s unclear if McGee shares Kerr’s sentiment as well, especially since his value is arguably at its peak right now, and he already has his championship ring.

JaVale McGee reportedly unhappy with Warriors

JaVale McGee and the Golden State Warriors may be headed towards divorce.

Marcus Thompson II of The Mercury News reported on Friday that McGee, who remains unsigned as an unrestricted free agent, is unhappy with the Warriors over the way the offseason has transpired.

Per Thompson:

At this point, the best recourse is bringing back JaVale McGee. But one source said he is not happy with the Warriors for not giving him a shot at the starting slot and giving all of the mid-level to free agent guard Nick Young. McGee believed his play this season earned him more minutes and money, and is looking for that on the market.

The 29-year-old journeyman McGee enjoyed a career resurgence with the Dubs in 2016-17, as his energy and athleticism proved valuable off the bench down the stretch of their title run. But he was only making the minimum and appeared to earn himself a sizable pay bump with his play. Instead though, Golden State re-signed starting center Zaza Pachulia to a $3.5 million deal and gave Nick Young the full $5.2 million mid-level exception, as alluded to above.

As a result, money is now rather tight for the rest of the Warriors’ supporting cast (even despite some major sacrificing by one of their stars), so a new home may inevitably be awaiting McGee.

JaVale McGee sends great tweet about his hair after Warriors win

JaVale McGee may have played less than six minutes per game in the NBA Finals, but the Golden State Warriors center still managed to accomplish an incredible feat. Name another player in league history who won a championship with the same hairstyle as McGee’s.

You can’t.

McGee, who is known for sporting some ridiculous haircuts, sent a great tweet after the Warriors defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers Monday night.

And no one can ever take that away from you, JaVale. There has never been a photo with the Larry O’Brien Trophy quite like this one:

Despite being ruthlessly mocked by Shaquille O’Neal, McGee carved out a nice role during Golden State’s dominant run this season. Even when he was riding the bench, his rat tail probably distracted an opponent from time to time. You can’t put a price on that.

Fans went nuts over JaVale McGee’s sphynx cat

One fun fact about JaVale McGee shared during the NBA Finals predictably caused a bit of a stir online.

As McGee came in and began doing well for the Golden State Warriors during Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday, ABC shared a graphic that contained some information about the Warriors center. One nugget from the graphic stood out more than the others — the fact that McGee owns a sphynx cat.

The reaction online was pretty funny. Here’s a roundup of the Twitter responses:

JaVale McGee arrives for NBA Finals Game 1 wearing Shaq hat

JaVale McGee is using his first career NBA Finals appearance as an opportunity to flex on his No. 1 nemesis.

The Golden State Warriors big man arrived to the arena for Thursday’s Game 1 wearing none other than a Shaq hat, per NBC Sports Bay Area.

McGee and O’Neal had a longstanding feud dating back several years due to McGee’s constant inclusion in O’Neal’s “Shaqtin’ A Fool” segment on TNT. The bad blood between the two spilled over in ugly fashion earlier this year.

While the direct feuding appears to have since ended, it’s clear that the subtle shots definitely have not.
