One of the lamest controversies of the Australian Open came during the semifinal match between Andy Murray and Tomas Berdych when Murray’s girlfriend/fiancee Kim Sears was caught on camera swearing.
Murray was down 5-3 in the first set and broke back, which really fired up Sears, who attends many of her fiance’s matches. She appeared to mutter some curse words under her breath — pretty typical stuff for someone who is charged up while supporting a loved one — but the problem was it was caught on TV.
It didn’t take much to figure out that Sears was swearing.
“In the heat of the moment you can say stuff that you might regret,” Murray said in his post-match press conference.
He also said Sears’ behavior was natural for someone who was watching a tense situation.
We completely agree with Murray and do not mind Sears’ actions one bit. How do you expect her to act while watching her husband play a tight match at a major?
