Mirka Federer, crowd give Roger big boost at Wimbledon
Roger Federer had a big edge over Novak Djokovic in at least one regard during their finals at Wimbledon Sunday. He had the support of the crowd.
Though the fans weren’t necessarily against Djokovic, they constantly supported the Swiss star who has won the Wimbledon championship seven times. He received loud roars and cheers any time he did well. He also had plenty of support in his box from wife Mirka and coach Stefan Edberg.
When Federer won points, ESPN frequently flashed to his box. Mirka, who is usually as stoic as her husband, even got animated during contested points in the match.
The fans at Wimbledon were hoping for and appreciated high-level tennis, but there was no doubt for whom they were rooting: Roger.
