Rory McIlroy wins a point vs. Maria Sharapova in her charity match against Caroline Wozniacki (Video)
Rory McIlroy has been on top of the world since Sunday afternoon — no pun intended. With his win at the Honda Classic in Florida, the 22-year-old McIlroy became the second-youngest golfer ever to be ranked No. 1 in the world, behind only Tiger Woods who did it when he was 21. On Monday night, he attended a charity tennis match between his girlfriend Caroline Wozniacki and Maria Sharapova. Toward the end of the evening, Sharapova found herself in a dance-off with a young girl and a man from the audience. Wozniacki wanted in on the fun, so she asked if there were any hot guys in the stands who would like to dance with her. As you can see, McIlroy’s hand shot up. The two did not dance, however.
Instead, McIlroy came onto the court and Wozniacki handed him her racquet and two balls. At about the 2:25 mark, you can see Rory going through a volley with Sharapova and eventually winning a point against her. I’m sure Maria was giving it her all. Perhaps giving up junk food has not only propelled McIlroy to the top of the golf world, but also made him a solid tennis player.
