The WWE is feeling the impact of the coronavirus outbreak like thousands of other businesses across the United States, and the pandemic has forced Vince McMahon to cut ties with one of the biggest names in the history of the sport.
Several employees were released by the WWE on Wednesday in a cost-cutting move, and Angle was among those who lost their job. The former heavyweight champion confirmed the news and thanked the organization in a statement.

Angle had not wrestled since WrestleMania 35, but he made several television appearances in addition to working behind the scenes.
Aidan English and Mike Chioda, the longest-tenure referee in WWE history, were also let go. The list seemed to grow by the minute at one point on Wednesday.
The financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic has obviously been very severe for the WWE. In addition to letting several employees go, we know that the XFL is also likely not coming back next year.
