Report: Braves would only be interested in ‘low-risk commitment’ with Tim Tebow
The Atlanta Braves are interested in Tim Tebow, but they’re not willing to go over the top to get him to commit to the franchise.
According to David O’Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Braves are serious about their interest in Tebow provided it’s a “low-risk commitment.”
Atlanta sent a pair of their top scouts to Tebow’s recent workout and spoke privately with him afterward, and the team is characterized as the favorite to sign the former quarterback. The report states that an agreement could come sooner rather than later.
The Braves own three of their minor league teams, including their Triple-A and Double-A affiliates, and sending Tebow to one of them could benefit the team financially, even if he doesn’t play in the majors.
There was one other team linked to Tebow, but the Braves sound like a significant favorite at this point. It’s not surprising that a team will give him a shot. It would, however, be surprising to make it to the big leagues.
