Houston Texans cornerback Kamari Lassiter had one of the worst two-play sequences any player could possibly have during Sunday’s Week 1 game against the Buffalo Bills.
Lassiter dropped an interception that would have sealed the game, then got burned for the game-winning touchdown on two consecutive players in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 36-31 loss. The dropped interception came on an inexplicable home run ball from Bills QB Josh Allen, but Lassiter seemingly could not get his body turned in order to make the catch.

One play later, Lassiter was burned by Joshua Palmer on a 34-yard touchdown pass that ultimately proved to be the difference.

The dropped interception was bad enough, especially since the Bills were already in field goal range. If Lassiter makes that play, the game is effectively over. It let the Bills off the hook, and the fact that he got burned one play later was just salt in the wound.
Lassiter was a Pro Bowl selection last season and has seven career interceptions, so this is not a case of the Bills picking on a weak spot in Houston’s secondary. It was just a terrible sequence for the third-year player, and that is going to make one of his opponents very happy.
