Yankees’ Twitter account not too enthusiastic about A-Rod passing Willie Mays
The lack of enthusiasm coming from the New York Yankees’ official Twitter account tells you all you need to know about how the team feels about A-Rod’s milestone home runs.
Alex Rodriguez on Thursday passed Willie Mays for fourth on the career home run list when he clubbed a solo homer off Chris Tillman in the third inning of the Yankees-Orioles game, giving him seven for the season and 661 for his career.
The Yankees’ Twitter account treated the homer, which gave the team a 3-2 lead, like it bored them.

The Yankees are obviously not too thrilled about A-Rod setting these milestones, and they probably have mixed feelings considering the homers are helping the team. Recall that the team was contracted to pay Rodriguez bonuses for the record-setting home runs but said they would not pay them. Feeling conciliatory over all the drama he had put the team through, Rodriguez said he was not going to fight the Yankees over the money.
