Jimmy Butler confirms Team USA brothel story, says it was ‘mistake’

Remember the story about Team USA Basketball players making their way into a brothel during the Summer Olympics in Rio? Well, Jimmy Butler has confirmed that the story is true.

Butler, who plays for the Chicago Bulls when he’s not winning gold for the U.S., joined “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” on Tuesday and was asked about the brothel story. He confirmed it happened but called it a “mistake.”

Here’s how the exchange went:

Cowherd: “… you got the brothel story, you got the Ryan Lochte, you got the Hope Solo. All this stuff, but when you’re living over there – can we confirm the brothel story? I’m not bothered at all by it.”

Butler: “You’re not bothered by it?”

Cowherd: “I lived in Nevada. If guys go to a brothel, what do I care?”

Butler: “I mean, it was a mistake. Everybody left, and went and got a drink at a real bar, which is completely fine with me. And that’s all it was.”

Leahy: “You weren’t there right?”

Butler: “Who me!? Pshh, nowhere to be seen. Not me.”

We’re not sure that we’re buying Butler’s denial about being present for the affair, but this isn’t the first time we’ve heard the brothel encounter was accidental, so we’ll accept that as being the truth.

Here’s the audio exchange:
