Kobe Bryant wearing black mask (Picture)

Kobe Bryant’s nickname is the “Black Mamba,” and he’s known as a killer on the court. After having a few different masks made for him this week, it’s no surprise he picked the black one for the Lakers-Pistons game Tuesday night.

According to the Lakers blog, Kobe had three new masks made in Detroit by the maker of Richard Hamilton’s masks. He tried them on at the team’s shootaround Tuesday morning, and the black one was the most comfortable.

The mask came off early in the game but Kobe fastened it back on. Lakers reporter Kevin Ding compares the black mask with the clear one Kobe had been wearing, and says the new one seems to be looser. Kobe also prefers it because the mask does not get foggy like the other one.

UPDATE: Kobe switched back to the old mask during the second quarter saying that the black mask kept slipping.
