Wizards F Martell Webster on win over Heat: ‘We won on the road at home’

Aside from cheep beer specials, the Washington Wizards have given fans very few reasons to want to attend games this season. Those who were brave enough to attend Tuesday night’s game against the defending champion Miami Heat were treated to a pleasant surprise — Washington’s second win of the season.

As expected, however, many of the fans who filled the Verizon Center were there to see LeBron James and company. For Wizards forward Martell Webster, the 105-101 victory felt like a road win.

“Did you hear the announcements? They call LeBron’s (name), it’s like, ‘Geez,’ We won on the road at home,” Webster said according to the Washington Post. “How crazy is that? In this locker room, we have to believe in each other.”

The Wizards will have to believe in each other a bit more during John Wall’s absence, because two wins in 15 games isn’t going to help the team escape from poor attendance numbers and an arena that has been less than 80% full during home games. The reason the PA announcer highlighted that LeBron was in attendance is that King James and the reigning NBA champions sell tickets. The product Washington puts on the floor does not.
