Nets tried to impress Dwight Howard with sign boasting about Jay-Z in front of Magic locker room

The blown up version of the Wall Street Journal you see above was positioned outside the visiting locker room in New Jersey on Wednesday night, before the Nets took on the Magic. Coincidence? I think not.

The Nets were trying to impress Dwight Howard by boasting about Jay-Z and his plans to take the Nets big time with the move to Brooklyn. His team will never trump the Knicks in popularity, but Jay-Z and the Nets owners know Dwight is the best thing that could happen to the franchise next season. Deron Williams has already openly admitted that he will stay if Howard joins him, so the Nets would have a solid core to build around for years to come if they can reel in Superman.

If you think the Wall Street Journal stunt is a coincidence, consider the fact that the Nets intentionally went with a pyro production during their pregame ceremonies as well. Still not sold? They also lowered their ticket prices specifically for this game and offered free vouchers for a future game to those who attended. Make no mistake about it — the full court press was on. Whether or not it made an impression remains to be seen.
