Sebastian Telfair hit with restraining order from wife after car smashing incident
Sebastian Telfair has been ordered to have no contact with his estranged wife after an incident in which the former NBA player allegedly went ballistic at her home earlier this year.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Telfair has been ordered by a judge to have absolutely no contact with his wife Samantha for a period of three years. The decision stems from a Jan. 12 incident in which Samantha said Telfair showed up at her home in Irvine, Calif., and became violent when he realized she wasn’t home. She said Telfair began pounding the doorbell and kicking the front door before smashing her car windshield.
Mrs. Telfair was previously granted a temporary restraining order after telling a judge Telfair “has become increasingly hostile, unstable and violent.” She also said Telfair “texted to me that he wants to die on numerous occasions and I believe that he is suicidal.” Samantha expressed concerns over the couple’s two children being exposed to Telfair’s “violence and rants about his suicidal tendencies,” according to documents obtained by The Blast.
Telfair, who spent 10 seasons in the NBA and played in China more recently, is no stranger to legal trouble. He has been arrested on weapons charges numerous times, most recently last summer when police found him in possession of several weapons and other items during a traffic stop.
