Tony Parker reportedly drawing interest from multiple outside teams
If Tony Parker decides to leave the San Antonio Spurs this summer, he should have no shortage of potential landing spots.
Speaking Wednesday on his self-titled podcast, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the 36-year-old Parker is drawing free agent interest from multiple outside teams. Wojnarowski mentions the Charlotte Hornets and the Denver Nuggets specifically but also says that there are others and notes that “isn’t a team in the league who wouldn’t love to have [Parker] as a backup.”
The Hornets have an uncertain situation at point guard with Kemba Walker a popular subject of trade rumors this offseason. Parker is also familiar with head coach James Borrego, who coached him as an assistant for many years in San Antonio, as well as swingman Nicolas Batum, his longtime teammate on the French national team. As for the Nuggets, they could re-sign Parker’s old Spurs teammate Richard Jefferson this summer and Wojnarowski also notes that they are looking for a backup point guard.
It seems unfathomable that Parker would leave San Antonio after 17 years and four championships. But he recently made some comments indicating that he was very open to it, and now it is looking more and more possible by the day.
