I joined Travis Rodgers’ radio show Friday morning for an interview to talk about the sports website business. We discussed how social media has changed things for the media and athletes, and what sorts of stories tend to be the most popular on the web. Other topics of conversation included LBS’ editorial guidelines, and why athletes and others continue to say dumb stuff over Twitter or Instagram.

You can listen to the interview at this link.

If you haven’t listened to it before, Rodgers’ show is very fun and entertaining. Those in the Los Angeles/Orange County areas can listen to Travis’ show from 6:00-9:00 a.m. PT on AM 830 (or you can listen live online from anywhere). Travis also hosts a two-hour show on Yahoo! Sports Radio from 9:00-11:00 a.m. PT which you can also stream online.

anna burns wes welkerThis has been a busy week in the sport world. The conference championship games took place, the Super Bowl is coming up, Tim Brown suggested Bill Callahan sabotaged the Raiders, and of course there is the whole Manti Te’o hoax.

I joined my friends at New Era Radio on Tuesday to talk about multiple subjects. We discussed the Patriots-Ravens rivalry; Tom Brady’s slide on Ed Reed; Wes Welker’s wife ripping Ray Lewis on Facebook; how LBS got Anna Burns Welker’s apology statement; Tim Brown saying Bill Callahan sabotaged the Raiders in the Super Bowl; and the Manti Te’o hoax.

There’s a lot of really good stuff in the interview, including analysis and details that have not been posted here at LBS. You can click here to listen to the show. My interview begins around the 15:20 mark. After I’m done, the fellas have a good discussion on the Rooney Rule that you will want to hear.

New Era Radio is a weekly radio show featuring hosts Marcas Grant and Cacique Vargas-Pile, both formerly of Sporting News Radio. You can visit the New Era Radio website, follow them on Twitter and like them on Facebook.

I joined my friends and former Sporting News Radio colleagues Marcas Grant and Cacique Vargas Pile on their “New Era Radio” show this week to talk some football. We discussed Ndamukong Suh avoiding a suspension, the disaster that is the Philadelphia Eagles, the 49ers quarterback controversy, and the Dallas Cowboys fan petition to overthrow Jerry Jones. We also talked about Thanksgiving, which led to my mini rant about the impending demise of the Hostess cinnamon streusel cakes. You can follow this link to hear the show. My interview begins around the 15 minute mark.

After me, the guys spoke with Clipper Darrell. You’ll want to hear his thoughts on the Clippers’ coaching.

We encourage you to visit the New Era Radio site and follow them on Twitter.

My friends and former Sporting News Radio colleagues Cacique Vargas-Pile and Marcas Grant invited me on their radio program this week to talk NBA playoffs and LA sports teams. We talked about the Lakers’ early postseason exit and what they can do in the offseason, the Dodgers’ hot start, and about Albert Pujols’ struggles.

Cacique and Marcas are veteran radio guys who run an entertaining show. You can follow them on their New Era Radio Twitter account to be alerted when they upload new episodes. I also recommend you follow Marcas on his Twitter account.

Jump ahead to around the 11:00 to hear my interview:

With spring training upon us and football season in hibernation until the fall, Del joined Bobby Curran of ESPN 1420 in Honolulu on Thursday to talk some baseball. As you all know, the always-outspoken Bobby Valentine has been blowing up headlines already with his jab at Derek Jeter, alcohol-free clubhouse policy, and mini verbal war with Terry Francona. As for the Red Sox themselves, there are plenty of question marks heading into the 2012 season after a disastrous end to 2011. Del and Bobby spoke about that and more Thursday afternoon.

LB joined the popular Red and Blue show with Jan and Gunther on 1280 The Zone in Salt Lake City for a fun interview Friday. Jan and Gunther are both former college football players. Jan is Jan Jorgensen, a former All Mountain West Conference defensive end from BYU, who also has a blossoming MMA career. Gunther is Kyle Gunther, a former offensive lineman for Utah, who has an emerging standup comic career. We talked about LBS, the Rob Gronkowski pictures and videos, Alex Morgan in SI, blogs and media, and where the line is for publishing stories.

Our interview is below:

LB was a guest on the morning show with John & Sean on 1540 The Game in Houston Tuesday, talking about many of the stories you’ve seen here at LBS the past few days. Most of our talk was about the Super Bowl, such as Las Vegas sports books having another winning year, Gisele throwing the Pats receivers under the bus, and the one Boston writer who went off the rails with his Tom Brady criticism.
