Andre McGee: A closer look at the ex-Louisville employee

Andre McGee Louisville

Andre McGee is a name you will hear a lot about regarding the Louisville Cardinals basketball scandal. McGee is the man accused of arranging to have escorts dance and have sex with Cardinals players and recruits. He is currently a coach at the University of Missouri – Kansas City, where he has been placed on administrative leave with pay.

Let’s take a closer look at who he is.

McGee, 28, comes from Moreno Valley, Calif., which is in Riverside County, east of Los Angeles. He averaged over 22 points per game as a high school senior at Canyon Springs and chose to attend Louisville because he loved the college town, and because “Coach Pitino is the best coach in college.”

The 5-foot-10, 180-pound guard played four seasons for the Cardinals from 2005-2009, never averaging more than 6.5 points per game in a season. In his senior season he averaged 5.3 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. As you can imagine, he did not have a bright professional future in store, so after playing a year abroad in Germany, he returned to Louisville to coach as a graduate assistant.

McGee spent 2010-2012 as a graduate assistant under Pitino. He became director of basketball operations and served in that capacity from 2012-2014. In April 2014, he left Louisville to become a coach at UMKC.

McGee comes from a strong basketball pedigree; his dad Anthony played at Long Beach State; his oldest brother Tony played at Eastern Washington; and older brother Antoine played at Colorado.

McGee has a lot of love for the Cardinals program and was a visible part of the program during his time as a coach there.

Below you can see many photos of him from appearances he made or fans who spotted him and shared pictures via social media over the past few years:

UMKC has placed McGee on administrative leave while the accusations are investigated. He is accused by a self-described madam as being the point man for arranging escorts to dance and have sex with players and recruits, both on and off campus during his time at Louisville. He has denied the allegations.
