Seth Davis picks Stephen F. Austin to reach Sweet 16
Stephen F. Austin already has the billing of a Cinderella story this March.
The Lumberjacks are 31-2 and won the Southland Conference regular season and tournament. They got a 12 seed in the South region and will face 5-seed VCU in the first round, and analyst Seth Davis is already picking them to reach the Sweet 16.
“The 12-5 is the classic first-round upset — I like Stephen F. Austin to win this game. They haven’t lost since Nov. 23rd. This is an excellent match-up,” said Davis.
“I like Stephen F. Austin not only to get by VCU, I think they’re going to be the surprise of the NCAA Tournament and get to the Sweet 16. Beyond that, I think a very clear path for Florida.”
If Stephen F. Austin beats VCU, they would face the winner of 4-seed UCLA and 13-seed Tulsa.
Other CBS analyst Doug Gottlieb said he liked UCLA to reach the Sweet 16 from that group.
