Kawhi Leonard has stern message about Clippers losing Paul George
Kawhi Leonard doesn’t sound worried about life without Paul George.
After five seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers, George agreed to leave his home state by signing a huge deal with the Philadelphia 76ers.
George and Leonard joined the Clippers together in the summer of 2019. During the Clippers’ media day on Monday, Leonard was asked about his first season in Los Angeles without George.
“I don’t feel like it’s going to be harder for me, personally,” Leonard told reporters.
“For anybody I’m on the court with, I don’t look at him to be my savior. I take in my own role and the challenges I have to face each and every game. … With that being said, my mindset is not going to change.”
Leonard has proven in the past that he’s more than capable of being the biggest star on a championship team. But Leonard has also been his own worst enemy of late as injuries have hampered his tenure with the Clippers.
Over his first four seasons with the Clippers, Leonard missed 147 of his team’s 308 regular season contests. He had his healthiest campaign last season with 68 games played but got injured as his team began its postseason campaign.
The injury woes have already become an issue for Leonard weeks before next season’s opening night. The two-time NBA champion has Clippers fans concerned with the recent news on his knee.
