Hawaii offense embarrasses itself in season opener (Video)
Hawaii had an entire offseason to prepare for its season opener at home against Colorado on Thursday, but they looked more like a team that was cobbled together for a pickup game at the last minute.
On two occasions in the first half, Hawaii’s quarterback and running back had a miscommunication. Both times QB Max Wittek turned one way for a handoff while the running back went the other way.
This one came in the first quarter and the miscommunication was between Wittek and Steven Lakalaka:
A quarter later it happened again, this time with running back Paul Harris:

Considering that Wittek was the common variable in both equations, we’ll say that he really needs to figure his stuff out. That’s embarrassing.
