Lane Kiffin subtly jabs USC on Twitter after Alabama win
The biggest winner in Alabama’s 52-6 shellacking of USC on Saturday may have been Lane Kiffin.
Kiffin was USC’s head coach from 2010-2013 until he was fired midseason following a horrendous loss at Arizona State. But while the simple news of Kiffin’s firing by USC was noteworthy in itself, the disrespectful fashion in which it was done was even more significant.
USC athletic director fired Kiffin in a small room in the airport terminal at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) after USC arrived home from Tempe after 3:00 am. Kiffin, now a successful offensive coordinator at Alabama, made a reference to that in his hashtag on Twitter Sunday:
Post game w the game ball!!! #3:14AM-LAX pic.twitter.com/cxQkJ89254

Yes, Kiffin got the game ball from Alabama following the Crimson Tide’s 52-6 win, and he got to stamp the victory with “#3:14AM-LAX,” which is likely a reference to the time USC fired him and the airport where the firing occurred.
If you think this hashtag was unintentional, you don’t know Kiffin at all. The guy has long been a cocky trash-talker and frequently takes shots at his opponents. In this case, you could say he earned the right to jab his former school.
