Penn State fans make Joe Paterno cutout tribute outside Beaver Stadium (Picture)

Some Penn State fans are unwavering in their support of Joe Paterno.

Some fans put up a makeshift memorial for the late Penn State coach on Friday, the day before the school’s season-opening game against Ohio University, which will be the school’s first since being punished by the NCAA for its role in the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal.

In addition to a cutout of Joe Paterno that was staked in the ground nearby where the coach’s statue stood, someone added a sign that said “JoePa Made Penn State A Better Place,” (seen below).

The cutout and sign were later removed by university personnel, but not before some fans could express their continual support of the coach.

It’s not surprising, but certainly disappointing, that fans would still support Paterno. They must not have read the grand jury report or the Freeh Report, or they must be in serious denial. Neither would be surprising considering we’re talking about biased fans, not justice-seekers.
