Stanford players wore nerd glasses to press conference after beating Oregon

Stanford-nerd-glasses

Anything can happen when two top-five college football teams square off against one another, but most people thought No. 3 Oregon beating No. 5 Stanford on Thursday night was a foregone conclusion. The Cardinal proved us all wrong by notching their biggest victory of the season and holding the high-powered Ducks’ offense to just 20 points.

After the game, several Stanford players showed up at their press conference wearing nerd glasses. Why?

“It’s Stanford,” quarterback Kevin Hogan told reporters, via Scout.com’s David Lombardi.

This was obviously a rehearsed bit, but you have to assume Stanford would not have worn the glasses had they lost. Whether Oregon’s quarterback played through a knee injury or not, the Cardinal earned the victory. And in doing so, they have suddenly put themselves in the national championship hunt.
