Ward had a strong freshman season for Tech in 2016, but he redshirted last year after suffering a leg injury. The redshirt season was also intended for Ward to improve his academics and maturity.
Ward rushed for 428 yards and three touchdowns as a freshman. He was expected to compete with Tre King for carries this season.
