Fresh off winning the Super Bowl MVP, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has gone big time. Whether it was making appearances on Ellen or hanging out with models, Rodgers is capitalizing on his celebrity status. Even teammate Clay Matthews called him out for it.

Rodgers’ latest venture is creating a music label called Suspended Sunrise Recordings. His big signing is a band called “The Make” which released a song called “Get It” on Thursday. Rodgers makes a cameo during the music video. Can you spot him? Check out the video:

Yup, that was Aaron Rodgers who stole Peyton Manning’s Sprint commercial costume. You would hardly recognize him, right?

If you’re wondering how Rodgers got hooked up with the band, it’s due to a hometown connection. The Make is from Chico, Aaron’s hometown. He had been a fan of a previous band featuring two of The Make’s members, and he liked what he heard of their new band.

Personally, I think the music video was better than the song. The lead singer has a good voice and they have a decent sound, but the song itself wasn’t that catchy.

We told you earlier in the week that NBA.com was working towards removing all videos and images of players due to the imminent lockout. They weren’t playing around. As soon as the lockout hit at midnight, NBA.com switched over to this extremely rudimentary version of the site:

I think I had a personal AOL page back in ’95 that had a similar layout. Maybe we should sue for copyright violation. But hey, if there’s any winner in all this, it’s the WNBA!

UPDATE: NBA.com has undergone another makeover and this time the site looks respectable! Here’s how it looks:

The Kings and Cavaliers snuck a trade in before the NBA lockout was announced Thursday, exchanging Omri Casspi and a lottery-protected 2012 first-round pick for J.J. Hickson.

Other than losing the support of Jewish fans everywhere, I thought it was a pretty good trade for the Kings. My initial reaction was sweet, Geoff Petrie finally managed to pull off a trade without getting reamed.

Considering he got killed in the Beno Udrih-John Salmons trade and has a track record of being on the losing end of one-sided deals, getting Hickson seemed like a major coup. Remember, Petrie is the guy who essentially traded Kevin Martin for 27 games of Marcus Thornton.

Looking more closely at Hickson’s numbers last season, though, I’m not so convinced. I’m beginning to think the Kings overpaid for him.

We’ve featured some classic mug shots at LBS over the years. Former MLB player Derek Bell had a legendary one several years ago. Former Calgary Flames forward Brett Sutter looked like a pedophile in his. And running back Laurence Maroney went Busta Rhymes with his hair in his. But does anything top Brett Rogers and his mohawk from his mug shot? I think not.

Laughing over Rogers’ mug shot does not mean we find his alleged actions to be funny. Quite the opposite, in fact. As we learned from Bloody Elbow, Rogers was jailed and charged with “assault in the third degree, domestic assault by strangulation and pattern of stalking conduct — all felonies –in Dakota County. He was also charged with endangerment of a child, a gross misdameanor.”

Here are the details of what allegedly transpired. “His wife blacked out from being choked, suffered a golf ball sized wound on her face among smaller wounds. The couples daughter had tried to intervene after she saw Rogers strike her mother.”

Rogers reportedly admitted to getting in a fight with his wife after drinking, and he says he was returning force. Bro, even if you were returning force, YOU’RE A PROFESSIONAL MMA FIGHTER. You don’t fight anyone unless paid to in the ring or unless you’re defending someone’s life. Somehow I doubt punching your wife and choking her was necessary. See Brett, this is the sort of thing you should have done to Josh Barnett, not your wife.

LeBron James would have received a lot of grief from the media and fans just for leaving Cleveland, but making his announcement in the fashion he did turned him into a villain. The problems were that LeBron did not notify the Cavs of his choice prior to going on national TV, and that he seemingly danced on the dead bodies of Cleveland fans before spiking the football down their throats in a victory dance. Oh yeah, not to mention that he hijacked an hour out of everyone’s life that we won’t get back. Yeah, that part wasn’t cool either.

But all the talk that LeBron James was duped, or taken by some agents or execs? We’re told that’s not at all the case. LeBron somewhat apologized for The Decision during the playoffs, but we have more insight into what went into it.

SI’s Point Forward has behind-the-scenes look at The Decision where we learn the idea came from Ari Emanuel, the co-CEO of the William Morris Agency. One of the interesting nuggets was pointed out by Pro Basketball Talk, and that is that LeBron knew full well what he was doing, though everyone was surprised by the backlash.

Mark Dowley, a former partner at William Morris, explains.

A 22-year old kid from Northern Ireland is officially on top of the golf world.  We don’t want to brag or anything, but we told you this day was coming nearly a year ago when Rory McIlroy dominated at Quail Hollow.  While many will argue it is too early to call him the next Tiger Woods, McIlroy is on his way to becoming just that.  He has the skill of Woods with youth on his side.  More importantly, he has the benefit of being able to learn from Tiger’s mistakes.

As a personality, McIlroy is refreshing for the sport of golf.  In a sport where you would be reprimanded for clapping too loudly, along came a kid who tweets pictures of himself pounding booze and isn’t afraid to treat the U.S. Open trophy like it’s the Stanley Cup.  There are a couple reasons no one has a problem with McIlroy’s wild side: he’s 22 years old and probably the most skilled golfer on the planet — it’s harmless fun. Also, if you saw Rory McIlroy’s girlfriend, the thought of him cheating on her probably wouldn’t cross your mind either.

On Wednesday, McIlroy involuntarily shed some light upon the demise of Tiger Woods.  The 22-year-old spoke with Yahoo! Sports about his recent success and the importance of maintaining a certain arrogance in order to remain successful.

When it comes to reality shows, it seems like every other athlete has one. And if they don’t have one, then they’re getting one.

Ochocinco and T.O. have had them, Shaq’s had em, and Lamar Odom and Kris Humphries married into them. But the common thread between all these reality shows is that they’re generally based on the noble societal tenets of gossip and dating. What Cleveland Browns Pro Bowler Josh Cribbs is trying to do is much different.

Cribbs is meeting with the William Morris Agency Thursday to try and market his Project 16 reality show which highlights his community service in Cleveland.

Part of Cribbs plan is “to go beyond the stereotypes and document the hard working people of this city as their hard work and big hearts carry them through these trying economic times. Episode by episode we’ll bring this community one step closer to a modern, vibrant workforce,” Cribbs said about the show.

Some of Cribbs’ actions on the show include showing up at a youth baseball game in Canton, and helping out a young boy who lost his parents.

Typically we don’t like when people do charity work when there’s an audience and TV cameras around, but this seems like a unique idea we can support. We’d much rather see this than all the other garbage that seems to captivate everyone’s attention.

The French press says Spurs point guard Tony Parker has a new girlfriend, and it’s beauty queen Barbara Morel. The first reports about Parker’s new girl emerged three weeks ago, but I didn’t see it until Spurs Nation reported it (via IamaGM.com).

According to their information, Morel is a 20-year-old girl who won Miss Nationale in France. She is also a trade and commerce student in Saint-Lambesc, Bouches du Rhône. The youth of Morel should be a nice change from Parker’s previous wife, Eva Longoria.

If you recall, Parker and ex-wife Eva Longoria divorced in November. Eva was suspicious about Tony’s relationship with Brent Barry’s ex, and Tony was suspicious of Eva and Lance Armstrong.

Given that Tony’s play seemed to improve after he broke up with Longoria, we can only imagine what sort of wonders Morel can work on his game. Check out some pics of Morel to see what we mean.

Robert Garrigus impressed with his strong performance at the U.S. Open two weeks ago, a tournament in which he shot below par every single round. Only eight men have accomplished that feat including him. Garrigus is also known for having the tiniest putter on tour. He’ll also be known for being a past John Daly disciple.

In an interview with Golf Digest via FOXSports.com, Garrigus talked about his past addiction to marijuana that led to a stint in rehab. He has cleaned up since then and become a much more consistent player, but these stories are still pretty shocking. Take it away, Robert.

On his time at Scottsdale Community College, Garrigus says “It was all golf and partying. I never did hard drugs. I never did coke or LSD. It was just smoking and drinking and hanging out with friends. It was just a change for me, but the smoking got to be habitual: five, 10, maybe 20 times a day. I didn’t keep track of how much. I constantly needed to be high. And I took it to the max. Every single day. Mostly just smoking, smoking, smoking.”

Now if you think Garrigus saying he was on the Charles Rogers path is bad, wait til you hear this.

T.J. Fredette is the older brother of Sacramento Kings draft pick and former BYU star, Jimmer Fredette. T.J. is an aspiring rapper and he’s performed at Jimmer’s college games. He also performed at halftime of a street game at Dyckman Park in New York Wednesday night according to Inside Hoops, which was there to record the performance. Here is a video of T.J. Fredette rapping Wednesday night:

If I had to label the fan reaction to his rap, I’d call it “indifference.” Better yet, as Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen said in Funny People, at least they didn’t boo him off. I still say he has a long way to go before he’s the next Eminem, but I won’t be the one to crush his dreams.
