Kimbo Slice Making Boxing Debut on August 13th

Street fighting internet sensation and former MMA fighter Kimbo Slice will make his boxing debut on August 13th. It was announced Wednesday that Slice will headline a four-round main event at Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, Okla for Gary Shaw Productions and Tony Holden Promotions. Apparently the guys behind this realized that Slice is a huge draw regardless of how he performs. And get this, they’re now terming him the “Kimbo Slice Express.”

“Kimbo was always meant to be in the ring,” said Jared Shaw, Team Kimbo Promotional Advisor. “He’s one of the hardest punchers in the world and on August 13, his journey to becoming America’s heavyweight begins. The first stop will be Oklahoma in what will become the Kimbo Slice Express.”

Kimbo’s foray into boxing comes as no surprise. A year before being cut by the UFC last May, he was saying he wanted to try boxing because it was easier than MMA. If he does well in August, maybe setting up a fight with NFL player Ray Edwards will be a possibility.
