Bruce Jenner completes gender transition, is now Caitlyn Jenner
Former Olympic decathlon champion Bruce Jenner has completed a gender transition and unveiled her new identity to the world on Monday in a cover story appearing in Vanity Fair magazine.
Jenner, 65, said in an interview in April that for all intents and purposes he was a woman. However, at the time he had not completed his transition and therefore accepted being called he. Now known as a woman named Caitlyn, she has completed the gender transition and says she still is getting used to the new identity.
“I don’t really get hung up,” she told Vanity Fair regarding people getting their pronouns screwed up. “A guy came in the other day and I was fully dressed—it’s just habit, I said, ‘Hi, Bruce here,’ and I went, Oh f—, it ain’t Bruce, I was screwing up doing it.”
Compared to her life as Bruce, Caitlyn seems to be much more free and true to herself, saying she “doesn’t have any lies.”
Two of Jenner’s children knew about her gender identity 20 years ago, so this was nothing new for them. Her two younger children only found out more recently over the past few years.
They are optimistic that Jenner will be a better parent in the new identity as Caitlyn.
