Brock Osweiler did not want to return to Broncos, did not like benching

Brock Osweiler

Brock Osweiler apparently wanted to move on from the Denver Broncos, not just because he was offered more money elsewhere, but maybe because he had mixed feelings about his former team.

NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport says Osweiler had some tough feelings towards the Broncos over them benching him late in the regular season in favor of Peyton Manning, who then led the team to a Super Bowl win:

One issue for Brock Osweiler: This wasn't an easy season for him with the #Broncos. Difficult to deal with being benched for a SB winner.

— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) March 9, 2016

The Broncos apparently could tell during negotiations that it seemed like Osweiler did not want to return to Denver.

I'm told Osweiler was "very distant" during negotiations. showed Broncos he didn't want to come back. Elway refused to play top 10 QB money.

Broncos source: "This is not a surprise. It was clear to John (Elway) last week that (Osweiler) didn’t want to be here."

Did Osweiler not want to return because they benched him or because other teams offered more money? I suppose it’s one and the same; both signal that the Broncos were not 100 percent sold on Osweiler. It’s understandable why he would want to go to a team that viewed him as their savior.
