Cam Newton explains why he ripped Packers sign
Cam Newton wasn’t about to let the Green Bay Packers have a homefield advantage on his turf at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte on Sunday.
Prior to leading his Panthers to a 37-29 win over the Packers, Newton saw a pro-Packers banner hanging over a front-row wall and tore it down:

Protecting his turf: Cam Newton, leaving the field after warm ups, ripped down a huge Packers banner that fans hung over the front-row wall.

I went to see if Cam tossed banner in trash. Nope. Security guard told me he folded it up, put under arm & walked into locker room with it.

Newton then went out and threw for three touchdowns and 297 yards in leading the 8-0 Panthers to another win. What’s his message? There’s no celebrating the opponent in his territory. He explained just as much after the game when asked why he tore down the banner:
Cam Newton on Packers banner in Charlotte: "You're not going to sell a Whopper at McDonald's."

I’m sure the golden arches appreciate the shoutout from Newton. Whether he’s downplaying loud road stadiums or defending his home turf, it’s clear that Newton is really feeling comfortable this season. That certainly shows this year with their 8-0 record.
