Christian Fauria pranks Dan Dakich, gets roasted (Audio)
Former New England Patriots tight end and current WEEI radio host Christian Fauria enjoys making prank phone calls to other radio stations. Armed with a terrible Boston accent and a worse attitude, Fauria makes calls declaring himself as “Christian from Foxboro” — the obnoxiously cocky Pats fan.
On Thursday, Fauria got his best reaction yet from Dan Dakich of ESPN Radio 1070 The Fan in Indianapolis. Fauria called to complain about Dakich referring to the Patriots and Colts as rivals, arguing that a rivalry can’t be as lopsided as the matchups between the two teams have been.
Dakich, a former Indiana coach and player, was in no mood. You’ll want to hear this:
While Dakich seemed skeptical that the call was legitimate, that didn’t stop him from referring to Fauria as an “east-coast ass.”
“If you wanna come here and be an east-coast ass, come here and be an east-coast ass,” a frustrated Dakich said. “If you want to say the Colts have to beat the Patriots for it to be a rivalry and talk like a human being, not some jag, then we can do that.
“We deal in facts here. We don’t deal in fast-talking stupidity. You’re a stereotype and a bad one, at that.”
Dakich then went with the “Patriots have won nothing since they got caught cheating” narrative, which is lame when anyone says it. People use that argument and make it seem like four-straight AFC championship appearances and nine playoff berths in 10 years is nothing to be proud of. Most franchises would kill for that type of success, even if it didn’t end with a championship.
Dakich was wise to that fact that he was being punked, but that didn’t stop him from ranting.
“I don’t know if that’s a prank call,” he said. “I don’t know who that is, but if you’re gonna call up here and be a flaming ass from Boston, we’re gonna make you look stupid. So sit down, have a little tea, go to the yard (said in Boston accent) and kiss my ass.”
If you ask me, Fauria won that battle for the simple fact that he got such a rise out of Dakich. Somebody needs to take some advice from Mike Francesa on how to handle bogus callers. We all know Francesa is the master in those situations.
