Darrelle Revis nursing hamstring injury, may miss Week 5

Darrelle Revis

Darrelle Revis has seemingly been banged up for the last two weeks, and the New York Jets could be forced to find someone to fill in for the veteran cornerback on Sunday.

Revis missed practice on Thursday for the second consecutive day. Brian Costello of the New York Posts reports that he is dealing with a hamstring injury.

With Revis having missed two full practice sessions, he is not a lock to play against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 5. That same Steelers team just put up 43 points in a win over the Kansas City Chiefs, so an All-Pro cornerback sitting on the sidelines could be very problematic for the Jets.

Before he tweaked his hamstring, Revis was also said to be dealing with a minor foot injury.

Revis is rapidly showing signs of his age. Even if he is not seriously hurt and ends up playing through the minor bumps and bruises, he has been torched for multiple big plays this season (video here) and is not playing anywhere close to the dominant level we are used to seeing. New York’s passing defense ranks 27th in the NFL with 285 passing yards allowed per game.
