Eagles’ Mike McGlynn Says LaRon Landry Spit in His Face Twice

Trash talking is one thing.  Spitting in a person’s face is another.  The fact that we’ve now had players claiming someone spit in their face during a game two weeks in a row is pretty disturbing if you ask me.  Last week, we showed you a video that all but proved Le’Ron McClain spit in Channing Crowder’s face during the Dolphins-Ravens game.  On Tuesday, Philly.com called our attention to another alleged spitting incident, this time involving Redskins safety LaRon Landry.

Philadelphia Eagles center Mike McGlynn says Landry spit in his face twice during Monday night’s game between the Eagles and Redskins — once during an extra point attempt and again at the end of the game as the Eagles were running time off the clock.  Unlike Crowder, McGlynn kept his composure and claims Philadelphia used the incident as motivation and an excuse to run the score up on the Skins.

He spit in my face, and that really fired us all up,” McGlynn said. “We were really looking to put the afterburners on them. It’s good to see. We came out and scored 60 points, almost . . . We want to play the game with all the respect in the world. When people come out and disrespect you like that . . . I think there just has to be more respect for the game than that. That’s just a terrible thing. We just looked at is as, “Hey, keep pouring it on them.”

Naturally, Landry fully denied spitting and said he wasn’t even near McGlynn on any plays, so he doesn’t understand where the accusation is coming from.  McGlynn also claimed Landry was talking trash to DeSean Jackson before the game and “trying to intimidate him,” which led to the little dust-up between the two teams before kickoff.  The Eagles threw right in the direction of Landry on the game’s opening play, which resulted in Phase 1 of Michael Vick’s MVP-like performance — an 88-yard touchdown pass to D-Jack.

But wait, that’s not all.  McGlynn also went on to tell reporters that the Eagles were motivated by some of Donovan McNabb’s comments following the first meeting between the two teams, which the Redskins won 17-12.  After that game, McNabb was seen saying, “Everyone makes mistakes in their lifetime and they made one.”  That certainly didn’t appear to be the case last night.

In summary, it’s tough to tell whether McGlynn’s claims about Landry spitting and trash-talking are true.  The only clear fact is that McGlynn’s a huge fan of the Washington Redskins, don’t you think?
