Veteran NFL tackle Jordan Devey has died.

Devey’s wife, Linsey, announced the tragic news on Thursday night. He was 38.

“Today would have been our 15th year anniversary,” Linsey wrote in a social media post with a photo of her standing by Jordan’s hospital bed.

“We have filled the walls of our homes and hearts with countless memories, joys, struggles, and triumphs. We brought 4 beautiful children into this world that have your eyes, freckles, and compassion. You were our hero and our hearts ache in your absence. We love you. We miss you. And as you said in your last words to me, ‘we’ll talk soon.’ ❤️

“Please if you are able, donate to our fund to ease the financial burdens that weigh heavy on our hearts.”

A GoFundMe page made to benefit the Devey family later indicated that Jordan had committed suicide.

Devey went undrafted in 2013 after a successful stint at Memphis. He got his first real NFL opportunity with the New England Patriots, who signed him to the team’s practice squad in September 2023. After seeing action at center, tackle, and guard during the 2024 preseason, the Patriots promoted Devey to the active roster. He played in seven regular-season games with four starts during the 2014 campaign, which ended with New England beating the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX.

The Patriots traded Devey to the San Francisco 49ers just before Week 1 of the 2015 season. He played in a career-high 15 games that season, mostly at right guard. He then had a 3-year run with the Kansas City Chiefs from 2016 to 2018, which coincided with the start of the Patrick Mahomes era.

Devey then played for the Oakland Raiders in 2019, right before the team moved to Las Vegas.

Devey closed his career with the Buffalo Bills in 2020. He played just one game for the Bills that season, which ended up being his last in the NFL.

Devey is survived by his wife, Linsey, and their four children.
