Giants DE Dave Tollefson Called Soft by Mother Debra Crocker After Injury

No matter how much a coach, teammates, or opposing players are picking on a guy, there’s always that one person there to lend support — mom. Mom is there no matter what. She’s the one who takes you out for ice cream after you struck out with the bases loaded to end the game, telling you you’ll get ’em next time. She’s the one who will wash your uniform even if you didn’t get it dirty because you were on the bench. She’s the one most concerned when you get hurt during a game.

Unless your mom is Debra Crocker.

Crocker flew from California out to New Jersey to watch her son, Dave Tollefson, play Sunday against the Eagles. The Giants defensive end got hurt during the game and headed to the locker room. He also heard from his mom at that point:

Tollefson said his mom, Debra Crocker, was waiting for him when he got to the locker room after injuring his knee against the Eagles, and she told him “Tape it up! I didn’t fly here from California to watch you ride the pines!”

“She was like ‘What are you doing?’ ” Tollefson said. “I said, ‘Mom, I’m hurt.’ She said, ‘I don’t give an F. Get it taped up and get the hell in there! I don’t want to hear this.’

Seems like Tollefson shared the story in good fun but it’s pretty clear his mother is a “football mom.” Seriously, when’s the last time you heard of a mother calling out his son for being a wussy, telling him to go tape up an injury? Sounds more like mom was disappointed she flew out for the game to see her son get hurt. I get that, but where’s the love, mom? Whatever happened to minivans, orange slices, and capri suns?
