Report: Giants executives undecided on Ben McAdoo’s future
A report from over the weekend indicated that Monday could be Ben McAdoo’s last day with the New York Giants, but it appears that there are at least some members of the team’s front office who aren’t anxious to fire the head coach.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Giants executives could not reach a consensus decision about whether McAdoo should be fired as of Sunday.
#Giants coach Ben McAdoo will walk into work this morning with no regrets about his handling of the Eli Manning situation, believing he made the best decision for the organization. Key members of the team brass, as of Sunday, were undecided about his future. It was not unanimous.

The Giants actually remained competitive in a tough road game against the Raiders on Sunday, so it’s unclear if that will have any impact on the McAdoo decision. Geno Smith wasn’t great, but he wasn’t horrible, either. He completed 21 of 34 passes for 212 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions. Smith’s lone touchdown pass came with just over five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter and cut Oakland’s lead to 17-14, but the Giants were unable to complete the comeback.
It would still be a major surprise if McAdoo is the head coach in New York next year, but perhaps the team’s owners are going to stick with what they said recently about making changes in the middle of the season.
