Jets release Knile Davis same day they claim him off waivers
Running back Knile Davis has had an eventful week.
Davis was released by the Green Bay Packers on Monday, a day after he rushed for just four yards on three carries. The New York Jets claimed him off waivers Tuesday, but they released him hours later after deciding to sign C.J. Spiller instead, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.
You're not going to believe this… but the #Jets are planning to release RB Knile Davis (again) as they finalize a deal for RB CJ Spiller.

Rapoport says the Jets were negotiating with Spiller and claimed Davis as insurance, so they released him after finalizing their deal with Spiller.
The Packers acquired Davis from the Chiefs on Oct. 18, so he spent less than two weeks with the team. They likely released him to avoid sending Kansas City a conditional pick that was part of the terms of their trade.
Davis, a former 3rd-round pick out of Arkansas, has six carries for three yards this season. If a new team claims him off waivers, Davis will end up being the NFL’s version of Luke Ridnour.
