The reporter who is expecting an apology from Cam Newton in the wake of the quarterback’s sexist remarks toward her ended up issuing an apology of her own on Thursday for an unrelated incident.
After Newton told Jourdan Rodrigue of the Charlotte Observer that it is “funny” to hear a female talk about wide receivers running routes, Rodrigue tweeted that she was simply doing her job and did not find her question humorous.
I don't think it's "funny" to be a female and talk about routes. I think it's my job.

Shortly thereafter, a fan dug deep into Rodrigue’s Twitter timeline and found some regrettable remarks the reporter made years ago that were racist in nature.

On Thursday, Rodrigue apologized for those tweets.

Newton had not issued an apology as of Thursday afternoon, but one company dropped him as an endorser of its product because of the comments.
