This week, we learned ESPN’s Chris Mortensen has been diagnosed with throat cancer and will be taking time away from his duties with the network as he undergoes treatment. As the NFL’s divisional weekend got underway on Saturday, one of the NFL’s more prominent analysts was on the mind of at least one of the game’s stars.
In the second game on Saturday, the Cardinals defeated the Packers in a game that featured another incredible Hail Mary by Aaron Rodgers to advance to the NFC Championship Game next weekend. Afterward, Larry Fitzgerald took a moment during an interview to offer Mortensen a few encouraging words.
Not that we needed another example that Fitzgerald is as classy as they come, he provided us with yet another example anyway.
Fitzgerald finished the game with eight catches for 176 yards and the game-winning touchdown in overtime. He also had a 75-yard catch and run down to the Green Bay’s five yard line to set up his eventual score.
