Football is a game of injuries and the NFL is a league of attrition. After only one week in the season, many players are already hurt and we have learned that Packers running back Ryan Grant falls in that group.
FOX NFL reporter Jay Glazer says Ryan Grant is out for the season because of right leg and ankle injuries. Grant got hurt in the second quarter of Sunday’s season opener against the Packers and was in a walking boot after the game. The fourth-year running back from Notre Dame had picked up 45 yards on eight carries prior to the injury.
What makes this news especially surprising is that Grant has been a model of health and consistency in the past. Over the last three years, Grant had missed just one game. Now he gets hurt in the opener and is out for the season.
Backup running back Brandon Jackson becomes an instant pickup in fantasy football and I wouldn’t be surprised if the Packers bring in some more backs for a look. Though the passing game is what drives Green Bay’s offense, the loss of Grant will hurt the team.
