Tom Brady: NFL has not spoken to me about Deflategate

Tom Brady

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady on Thursday afternoon addressed the Deflategate incident, and he denied having any knowledge of how his team’s game balls allegedly became deflated after they were checked by NFL officials.

Brady began his press conference by telling reporters he “didn’t alter the ball in any way.” He maintained that stance while answering all of the questions he was asked. Brady’s most surprising revelation may have been that the league has yet to contact him.

Brady was asked several times to clarify if he has spoken to the league about the investigation, and he said that he has not.

Beyond that, there was very little. Brady said he went through the balls before the AFC Championship Game and they were “perfect,” at which point they went into a bag and on their way.

“I don’t want anyone touching the balls after that,” Brady said. “I don’t want anyone rubbing them. To me, those balls are perfect.”

That was one of his mistakes. While Brady admitted that he likes the balls a certain way and thinks 12.5 PSI is a “perfect” inflation, he then went on to say that he would not notice if the balls were under-inflated by two pounds.

After hearing what Bill Belichick had to say on Thursday morning, we assumed Brady would provide a lot more answers in his presser. He took the same stance as Belichick but was far less convincing.
