Tiger Woods admits he hasn’t slept since split with Lindsey Vonn
Tiger Woods gave a rare glimpse into his human side on Tuesday when asked about his recent split with Lindsey Vonn.
In response to a question about the breakup, which both Woods and Vonn have described as a mutual parting of ways, Woods said he has been having a very difficult time with that and the anniversary of his father’s death.
“It obviously does affect me,” Tiger said, via Kyle Porter of Eye on Golf. “It is tough. I’m not going to lie about that. And on top of that, this time of year is really, really hard on me.
“This three-day window is really hard. I haven’t slept. These three days, May 3-5, it’s just brutal on me. And then what happened on Sunday just adds to it.”
Earl Woods, Tiger’s father, died on May 3, 2006.
Woods played a practice round at TPC Sawgrass on Tuesday to prepare for The Players Championship, his first tournament appearance since finishing tied for 17th at the Masters.
Tiger has a reputation for being short with the media and not giving up personal information, so it was uncharacteristic of him to open up like that. He and Vonn certainly looked happy together at the Masters, so news of the breakup came as a surprise. For all we know, it could have been a surprise for Tiger, too.
