Joe Thornton out indefinitely after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery
Joe Thornton is out indefinitely after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his knee on Thursday, the San Jose Sharks said in a statement.
Sharks GM Doug Wilson said Thornton underwent the procedure to address an issue with his right medial collateral ligament (MCL).
The 38-year-old center injured his knee during Tuesday’s loss to the Winnipeg Jets.

Thornton had been hot for the Sharks. He had scored goals in five of the team’s six games prior to Tuesday.
Wilson had said on Wednesday that Thornton would likely be out several weeks. The team says there is no timetable for Thornton’s return.
